So, I feel the need to tell this story now!

At NYCC this year, I was lucky enough to get Gillian Anderson’s autograph on my script for the pilot episode. David Duchovny was also signing at the same table, but I couldn’t afford to get both. However, when I approached the booth, his line had emptied and Gillian’s was winding down (I think they had a photo op shortly?) so he was just kind of hanging around. The following happened:

DD: Hi!
Me: Hello! ?
GA: …Do you two know each other??
Me: Wouldn’t THAT be a thing?

I’m pretty tickled already, but as she’s signing my script, they’re having a tiny conversation in front of me, whispering and giggling about something unrelated, and I’m wondering is this is real life? Because never in a million years had I imagined just standing around, watching the people who made Scully and Mulder exist have a goofy chat. They might say you shouldn’t meet your heroes, but hell with that!

Anyway, I proceeded to tell Gillian what an amazing inspiration she was and continues to be, and that to an eleven-year-old girl, Scully was the best role model I could have had. I got a little teary-eyed, I admit it. BUT David is also still there, hovering over her shoulder with a little grin as if to say, And? So I muster up a little more gumption, as it took a lot to just babble out my adoration to Gillian…

Me: You, sir, are such a guy. To eleven-year-old me, she was my role model, but you were going to be my husband.
David: Still could be. I’m single.

aaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

In summary, I need to go back in time and tell tiny Sarah that someday, she’d be an adult that would shake Gillian Anderson’s hand and tell her she’s amazing and that everyone who hears this story is going to ask if I got Mr. Duchovny’s digits.

Я бы с удовольствием заплатила им не за автограф, а чтобы они вот так передо мной посидели и пошептались/похихикали друг с другом, и я бы счастлива была как слон
