Transcript of Daily Mail Uk Singing is a drag as David goes straight. In Connie and Carla, which stars Nia Vardalos and Toni Collette in the title roles, practically character in the movie, with the exception of David Duchovny, sings and dances. The film is about two singers (Vardalos and Collette) who hide from mob killers by posing as drag performers. Please , dont ask! Duchovny is the straight guy, as it were, who sees something he likes in one of them. 'The character that i'm playing has to function as the guy who doesn't get involved with all the fun. If i start singing and dancing and wearing dressess, then i'm reality goes out of the window' the actor , who nmade his name as agent Fox Mulder in The X-Files, told me. I wasn't exactly keen to see him in a frock anyway. But he insisted : ' I'm better in a dress than I am singing '. Well, OK then. Ms Vardalos, who wrote and starred in the record breaking comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding, performed the same duties on Connie and Carla. She sent Duchovny the script, and he says he liked the way that the laughs come out of how the characters are written. Essentially, the film's about what the actors terms 'tolerance and a spoonful of sugar'. Just so. He's peeved about the lack of dramas on TV and how reality shows have swamped the networks, although he admits he'd probably watch Big Brother before he watches paint dry. ' I can see the allure and i guess we all like to see people humilate themselves. I don't call them "reality shows" because they don't have anything to do with reality, I just call them unscripted', he added. Anyway, he has been writing, directing and appearing in his own work--a film called The House of D wa shown to the market at the Cannes Film Festival and he hopes to write and direct more, and probably do another X-Files movie. Connie and Carla opens on June 11.
