transcribed by Mairead. DD was on GMTV around 08:30 this morning on ITV1 UK. He looked so incredible and was top form but enough said here is the intervirew transcript Ihope you enjoy it. David Duchovny On GMTV ITV1 UK on Tuesday 8th June 2004 Fiona Phillips conducted the interview with David, we first see her in the studio with her co-presenter Eamonn Holmes. In her opening introduction says ‘now here is someone else who I am sure will be marvellously groomed when he steps into the studio and sits ... ..well he is look that is the lovely David Duchovny. We see David in what looks like a green room as if waiting to come on set for the interview although we know this is taped :-) Fiona, a highly intelligent pretty and petite blonde is wearing the same white trouser suit with peach top today as she did during the interview last Friday to blend in with this little deception. David is wearing a lovely striped shirt and jeans and yes his hair is beautiful. DD looks as if he is unsure whether he is on camera or not and smiles tentatively. [Eamonn and Fiona had just been talking about another segment from the weather report about a presenter being well groomed with a hat and Eamonn talked about the well- groomed sand on the beach as a lead in remark about DD being well groomed to start the introduction. And he was!!! lol [He looked as if he just stepped out of season 4 on the XF]. Fiona: ‘He will be telling us more about life after the X- Files....’ Eamonn interrupting , addresses the screen ‘Give us a smile Dave!’ as if playing up the sombre Fox Mulder rep [this is a dig at Fiona who smiles broadly whenever DD is mentioned :-) ] Fiona in defence of David ‘He is not that kind of guy he is dry, he has a dry sense of humour and he is lovely and we will be talking to him about his new movie after this [advertisement break] ’ Eamonn grins even more broadly at her expense as they fade into break After the break Fiona: ‘Well to say I am slightly excited about this is overestimating [I am sure she meant underestimating, more confusion for poor DD] it really because the man who is sitting next to me was once called by his colleague “Catnip to women” DD slightly looks towards the ceiling as if to say rubbish ‘That was a .......’ Fiona: And I can see why! David Duchovny in case you hadn’t realised who it is, Who we all know you over here of course from the X-Files. To David directly ‘You were Fox Mulder’ David nodding ‘Right’ Fiona: ‘It was while ago now yet you were in it for so long as well’ David: ‘Yeah about nine years, ahm but I think it seems never to end [making looping gestures with his fingers] because it is always running at some point in the world Fiona ‘Yeah, and isn’t there talk about another movie?’ DD: ‘Yeah a second movie. I think we are going to do it around the next nine months, ten months, yeah.’ Fiona: ‘Oh great so that’s definitely happening then’ DD: ’Well Its definite as anything is definite.’ Fiona: ‘As definite as anything is in your business’ DD: nodding ‘Yeah’ Fiona: ‘Do you still keep in touch with Gillian?’ DD: ‘I do, well I knew I was coming here and she lives most of her time in London so I had e-mailed her but I think she is in Ireland right now so ..’ Fiona: ‘She has been in actually’ [in the studio for an interview] DD: ‘We missed each other this time.’ Fiona ‘Yeah We will pass on your regards when she comes in again‘. DD: big smile ‘Thank You!’ Fiona: ‘Well listen you are over here because you are promoting ‘Connie and Carla’ which some people are calling it the ‘Some People Like It Hot’ of the 21rst century.’ Why is that?’ DD: ‘David laughs ‘Are we in the 21rst Century? we are, we are, yeah.’ Fiona ‘We are, we are, sadly DD: [in response to the question] ‘Well Nia Vardalos and Toni Collette play these two women because they witness some kind of a crime, its a light comedy so it is a light comedy crime. They are also musical theatre enthusiasts, which I am not, but they are. They go ... they run away to LA where they kind of go undercover because they are in hiding as drag queens in a drag queen revue so they are women playing men playing women. So that’s the summary of the characters.’ Fiona: ‘Right, so they are sort of transvestites aren’t they or your character think they are anyway.’ DD: That‘s right and as I start to kind of fall for one of them even though I don’t fall for her sexually because it is not that kind of movie I do fall for her emotionally and I am then somewhat confused because I think she is a man playing a woman. Because my brother, thats why I am there, my brother is a transvestite and that is why I am there but my brother is there and he is a transvestite and I am trying to ...’ DD stops and asks ‘Have I confused you yet?’ Fiona: ’No’ you haven’t ...... DD wickedly talks over her ‘Because I am trying to, I am trying to confuse you Fiona continues ‘..... he’s called Robbie, you are Jeff and you are trying to rebuild your relationship with him. DD: deadpans ‘Now you are confusing me!’ Fiona: ‘Right okay, Shall we look at a clip then’ DD: ‘Sure, go ahead‘ [same clip with Jeff drunk and taking off i.e. imitating a drag queen] Fiona: He [Jeff] looks great, its kind of cookie DD: ‘It is, its loose its really just a straight ahead fun kind of comedy you know Fiona: ‘You love comedy. I mean you are a funny man I have seen you doing Letterman ...’ DD: Interrupting ‘You say that as if you are trying to convince me or somebody else’ Fiona: almost squeals ‘No, no, no I’m, I’m not trying to convince you. I am just telling you what I think, [you are funny] - funny ha ha not funny peculiar. DD: Right, no, no, I understand, I understand what you are saying. Comedies are a lot of fun to do because basically if you make people laugh then you know you have done your job whereas in dramas the criteria is a lot more vague. Fiona: Comedy is harder than drama...’ DD: emphatically ‘Its really hard because if you don’t make people laugh there is nothing worse than [Fiona: ‘dying on your feet‘] trying to appearing to ... trying to be funny much like I am doing right now Fiona: Shall we play it straight then’ DD: ‘Well I have been playing it straight’ Fiona: laughing ‘Have you? [laughing and looking dubious, he is being so cute :-) ] ‘right okay, well I hadn’t noticed that’ DD: tries to look serious ‘Yeah I have been.’ Fiona: ‘Now listen I have got a very spooky coincidence here, its sort of a bit of an X Files thing’ DD: Is there?’ Fiona: looking down at his biographical notes ‘I saw May 6th 1997 DD: ‘That’s my anniversary, that’s when I got married’ Fiona leaning closer to him, almost whispering ‘That’s when I got married too!’ DD looks away raising his eyebrows as if in surprise Fiona: ‘Isn’t it spooky but obviously not for you ’ DD: ‘Well no, its a coincidence I’ll give you that’ Fiona: excitedly ‘Don’t you think that’s spooky though’ DD: ‘I don’t know about spooky’ Fiona: ’I have a child who is five and a child who is two and so do you. DD: ‘That’s spooky too.’ Fiona: nodding with great emphasis ‘I reckon that’s a bit of an X Files moment’ DD: ‘I guess but you know people are ... throughout my life people will take the most minor coincidences and tell me they are an X Files moment like I’ll get into the elevator and it will lurch before moving and people will say well that’s an X File and I would say well it is lucky you are not writing for the show because i don’t think people would tune into the episode where the elevator lurched before actually moving on.’ [Fiona thought he was making fun of her spooky story when he started relating this anecdote because she had tuned out before he finished it and missed his point]. Fiona: ‘Yeah you’re funny that was funny!’ DD: ‘Thank you very much!’ Fiona ‘I am not funny at all now but it was really lovely having you. DD: Looks at her in surprise ‘You are funny, you are very funny’ Fiona Ahah DD: laughing ‘You are, yeah you are’ Fiona: ‘Its an acquired taste’ DD: chuckles Fiona Takes his hand and pats it, Lovely to meet you’ DD clasping her hand ‘Nice to meet you too.‘ Fiona: And Connie and Carla we shall await with interest DD slightly bows his head ‘Thank You ... OK’ The taped interview ends and we see Fiona back on the couch beside Eamonn with what can only be described a s a rapturous look on her face. grinning from ear to ear. Lucky, lucky Fiona. He always looks great but he even surpassed himself today
